Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
